SWC

Oh, why hello there.  Do you come here often?  Yes, Arra I'm talking to you.  How are you? I'm fine thank you.  Well, enough of that, let's get into the blog...
So, this past week we beat the Olmsted fall bulldogs to take the SWC.  However, this week determines whether we get the title outright or if we have to share it.  If Olmsted Falls manages to beat North Olmsted then they have a shot at the title because they have one loss.  However, for them to share a portion with us that requires us losing to Amherst.  Personally, I like our chances against Amherst.  BUT!  This is a team that has nothing to lose.  I bet they will try trick plays on offense and even the special teams.  That's right I said special teams.  They have done a reverse on a kick off and even passed it across the field.  With the unpredictability of Amherst it will make for a tough game.
With the SWC under our belts, there have already been talks of playoffs.  For us to make the playoffs we need some things to happen first.  We have to win against Amherst.  We also need Midview to beat North Ridgeville, and for Canton Mckinley to beat Massillon Jackson.  I believe that this is what needs to happen for us to go to the playoffs but I could be wrong.  We might need more teams to lost for all I know.
Hopefully our luck doesn't run out in terms of these teams losing.  All we need to focus on is beating Amherst.   Until next time, the Guru is out!!!!

Prime Time

It’s alright everybody, I was not hibernating, and I’m back.  This post is all about a football great.  He is a Hall of Fame cornerback and he is almost as good as me.  His name is Deion Sanders and he is a man.  He went to high school at North Fort Myers High School.  He played baseball, basketball, and football and he lettered in all them.  He played football, baseball, and track for Florida State University.  His freshman year he started corner for the football team, helped the track team win a conference championship, and helped the baseball team finish 5th in the nation.  Yeah, he is that talented.

Deion faced a crossroads with his career. One that very few people have come across and experienced.  It was, will he go to the MLB or the NFL.  He decided to do something amazing.  He played in both leagues.  He was a standout in both the MLB and the NFL.  Sanders is the only professional athlete to hit a homerun and score a touchdown in the same week.
With all this success came a lot of publicity to Deion.  He is known to many as Deion “Prime Time” Sanders.  Deion also has that feature that many envy.  He knows that he is the best player on every field that he walks on, and he doesn’t let the other team forget it.  Deion is confident, well composed, and above all cocky.  He is ranked number 1 by many forums, websites, TV shows, etc. as the cockiest player of all time.  He is ranked higher than TO, Chad Ochocinco, and many others.
Brian Dawkins is my favorite current player.  However, my favorite player of all time is Deion Sanders.  He displays his athletic ability as well as his confidence in every sport let alone game that he is in.  He was recently inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  Until next time, the Guru is out.

Here we go again...

So, recently I finally got on my twitter game (get at me @MikeRussell28).  After trying to figure out how to work it for quite some time I learned how to "tweet" and follow people.  I decided to follow my favorite NFL player Brian Dawkins.  Brian (yes we are on a first name basis) is a man on the field.  He takes on OT's that have almost 100lbs on him and he stands his ground.  He is relentless and he plays like there is no tomorrow.  And when Brian walks on to the field you would think that he just won the Super Bowl.  He starts jumping, screaming, sprinting, crawling, somersaulting, and high-fiving.  He does this to not only get himself pumped, but to also get his team pumped.

(No I was not crazy, and this is not photoshopped, he actually crawls onto the field)

This is not the only reason Brian is my favorite player.  Brian is a man that does not let anything get to him.  He doesn't let the stuff other people say affect him or how he plays.  A majority of his tweets are  about how we need to not listen to what other people say.  He said to not let people's opinions that are trying to bring you down succeed.  Right now our football team is going through this.  We are facing a lot of adversity off the field and we can not let that affect how we play.  We can't even let that get to us.  Because if we make a stupid decision based on a impulse because of a comment there could be some serious consequences.

Over the years Brian has taken a lot of ridicule because of his playing style or what kind of person he is in general.  He doesn't let it get to him.  He just uses this as a sort of fuel to his fire.  This is what the team needs to do now on the field and not let it get to us off the field.
